Gold Unit Rich Task

Background Information

You have just been given a job at a company called ELFE (Entertainment and Learning For Everyone). The company aims to develop innovative ways to present information to students so that learning is both enjoyable and educational.

As part of the company’s development program you have been asked to create a video or board game for young children that will teach them about the effect the discovery of gold had on Australia, particularly its impact on the lives of the people of the time. Using your company’s time-travel machine you are able to travel back in time to spend ‘two years’ in Ballarat to help you understand what life was like during that time. Upon your return, you have to use what you have learned to develop either a board game or an informative video for Stage 3 students in NSW schools.

Learning Process & Self Evaluation:
Steps we went through to create this presentation:
  • I had to find the information then make it into a script then see who is playing which character then learn the lines. After learning the script  we had to do the Power Point so we found information in books and web sites then put them into  sections so you can see the different section.

I have learnt:
  • About the gold miners on the goldfields and the way they where treated by the policemen I have also learnt how to do a proper bibliography.
My group is good at:
  • Acting and making making the Power Points.
My group needs to work more on:
  • Learning our script well so we don't have mistakes.
My effort for this task has been: Quality My best work Could do better
  ü
Comment: I enjoyed doing the play and the Power Point.
