Even though this crush has been over for a while now, I still have a soft spot for the hunky green Namek. Lol.
You might already know some background about this crush if you've seen the About Me section of The Bright Side. Piccolo was the cartoon character I originally liked when I first started watching DBZ, not The Ultimate Purple Haired Hunkster, Future Trunks, believe it or not!
Piccolo is the smart, strong silent type. In the beginning of DBZ I loved how he was the villain. I have a soft spot for villains. Their personalities are just so complex in some cases. So interesting. Piccolo being no exception. I loved how he didn't take no shit from anyone. He was so cool and sexy and hot with that sultry way he talked. I loved it when he talked. I didn't even took much notice that he was a green asexual alien, with cool pointy ears and antennae. The spunky Namek was hot to me.
When I watch the older DBZ episodes, I can live through it, even if Trunks isn't there, because Piccolo was awesome in those earlier episodes. Complete and utterly awesome. He was also so much sexier in those episodes, and I loved the edge of evilness he had still. And that he questioned and wanted to kill Goku. But unlike some of Goku's other enemies, he was intelligent and rational. As the show progressed his evilness slowly died down, but that's part of his character progression, so it was inevitable.
He was one of the reasons I got into DBZ. He was entertaining and interesting. I still think the world of him, but as you know, my feeling took a turn and set upon the son of Vegeta: Future Trunks. But not immediately. When I first saw Trunks, it was just before cell came on the scene. I didn't see any of Trunks before. When Trunks came on, I thought he was kinda cool, but Piccolo was the one I had my eye on. I remember giggling in girlish glee when he said one of my all time favourite quotes from him: "You just can't get enough, can you?" and he was right at the time ^^
One of my most favourite DBZ fights was Piccolo Vs. Android 17. It is awesome. Not too long, heaps of great moves...
But the more I watched the show, Piccolo started to be pushed to the side and the show focused more on the Saiyans, and the more of Trunks I got to see. That's when I started to fall for him. Sweet, shy little Trunks. Modest and always trying to gain his father's approval. I really felt for him. But showing so much strength and rational thinking when he stood up to his father, who tried to stop him from preventing cell's evolution. Trunks was the one that really made my heart pound. And he wasn't asexual XD It made a lot of things easier.
I still think the world of Piccolo, but Trunks was who my heart wanted in the end. But I'd still be forever a big Piccolo fan! (Plus...between you and me, I don't think Gohan would have been to happy if I went after his green Namek man XD)
