"Medina! It's time to go!"
The golden brown haired girl jumped up, startled. She turned around, moving the hand with the Dragonball behind her back, hiding it from the person calling her. A small-framed, Asian girl wearing denim shorts and a pink T-shirt was standing on the shore waiting for her. Her tanned arms crossed. Her dark brown hair pulled back in a ponytail. It was Medina's friend Katrina. Medina grinned sheepishly. "Oh...hey Katrina." Katrina rolled her eyes. "You better hurry before the rest leave without us." Medina nodded and tucked the precious Dragonball into her handbag. She walked out of the water and onto the shore until she was standing next to Katrina. "Planning on taking a swim, were you?" Katrina said with a slight chuckle. "You could say that." grinned Medina. "Where are the others?" Katrina shrugged. "Oh you know them. They always wonder off somewhere." They started walking up the path in search of the rest of their group. Medina smirked. "So they just decided to piss off did they? Typical. Oh well, I know the beach isn't one of their favourite places to go. They'd rather be at the library..." she said rolling her eyes.
"Meddy!!" Medina and Katrina cringed slightly as they heard the oh so familiar high pitch shriek, ahead of them. They looked up to see their friend Maggie running up to them...at full speed. Maggie was also Asian. Her and Katrina were about the same build, but Maggie had much paler skin than Katrina and black hair. She wore jeans and a white T-shirt.
Medina watched as Maggie approached them rapidly. "Uh-oh..." Katrina said, jumping to the side as Maggie collided into Medina, on purpose, making Medina cry out from the impact. Maggie wrapped her arms around Medina's waist giving her a hug. "Owww..." Medina moaned. "Maggie, do you always have to do that?" Maggie looked up at Medina and grinned innocently, nodding. Katrina chuckled. Medina sighed. Maggie began to chatter excitedly as she usually did. "Medina, where were you? I was looking for you! And then Katrina went off somewhere and I didn't know where you both went off to and then the others were saying they wanted to leave and-" Medina grasped Maggie's shoulders and started shaking her. "Maggie! Calm down! Breathe!" Maggie started to giggle. Katrina tapped Medina on the shoulder and pointed ahead. Medina let go of Maggie and followed where Katrina was pointing. Sure enough, she saw the rest of the group.
Medina waved to them and put her arms behind
Katrina and Maggie's backs, pushing them forward. "Do you always have to do
that?" Katrina asked, slightly annoyed. Medina chuckled. "Sorry Kat.
Habit."
"Yeah! You always do that, Meddy!" Maggie added as they reached the
rest of the group.
As she entered her circle of friends, Medina saw two Anglo girls walk past, looking at her strangely. They were both younger than herself. She heard them exclaim "They're all Chinese except for one!" Medina chuckled and nudged her friend Harman. Harman was Indian. She was tall with long black hair. "Hey Harmie, I didn't know you were Chinese too!" she said laughing. Harman rolled her eyes. Cindy looked over at the girls. "Maybe it's because you're hair is dark like ours, Harman. Medina stands out because she has lighter hair." Cindy said reassuringly.
Kari turned to Medina and grinned. "So where did you and Katrina go off to?" she started stealthily. "Gone to see some boys?" she purred, with emphasis on the word 'boys'. Medina grinned. "Yeah. They really have their eyes on Katrina." she said, nudging Katrina. "She's a real heartbreaker." Katrina glared at Medina and punched her hard on the shoulder. "Oww!! You know I'm joking, Kat." Medina chuckled weakly, rubbing her shoulder. "It was a compliment!" Katrina punched her again. "OWW!! I'm going to have bruises there now!" Katrina smirked to herself with the satisfaction of causing Medina pain. "You're mean." Medina mumbled, still rubbing her shoulder as she glared at her attacker.
